Artist Spotlight: Lomez Brown

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, Lomez Brown has Maori and Cook Island heritage and is also a member of the NZ music group FeJoint Productions. Lomez Brown, is renowned for his uplifting music, and has been charming audiences both in Aotearoa and internationally since he made his debut in 2013. As one of New Zealand’s prominent “Polynesian Reggae” artists, his music is deeply rooted in reggae, old-school soul/RnB, and Polynesian rhythms.

Lomez swiftly made his mark with multiple songs in his first year, including the hit “Ain’t What I’m Looking For,” a collaboration with Cessmun that gained significant acclaim. His 2015 track “Sweet Lover” further solidified his place in the music scene, now with an official Platinum X2 status in New Zealand and over 25 million streams. Both of these songs are still playlist essential’s for many to this day.

In 2020 his EP, “The Feels & Groove” was released and clocked over 3 million streams on Spotify in a year. Now with an impressive 480k monthly listeners on Spotify alone, Lomez Brown has undeniably grown himself a dedicated fanbase both locally and globally.

He has has toured NZ, Australia, Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa, Hawaii & the USA. As well as performed at multiple live performances including One Love NZ, Summer Nesian Melbourne, Raggamuffin, Island Reggae Festival USA & Kuki Fest Cook Islands. His performances are known for his captivating stage presence & all around feel-good vibes.

Lomez has been a finalist at several prestigious awards, including the Pacific Music Awards, NZ Music Awards, and Maori Music Awards from 2019 to 2021. He also won the Cook Island Music Award in 2015 for his contribution to mainstream music in New Zealand.
